Red Wreaths: Christmas Nail Art With MoYou Nails
Hi guys! Apologies for not posting for a while, I've been sooooo busy recently and my nails have been very much ignored. I'm currently feeling a little bit worse for wear since it was my graduation yesterday, and at the time, a bottle of wine seemed like a good idea (not in the middle of the ceremony, I must add. Alcohol was saved for the meal afterwards!) Anyway, the current state of my body and brain dictated as much simplicity as possible, so this design was nice and quick to achieve (though I must admit, the whole stamping element took quite a few practise runs, as I'm a total newbie when it comes to nail stamping!) Oh, and please ignore my scabby thumb, I had a fight with a potato peeler the other day...
The equipment:
Sinful Colors 'Snow Me White'
Sinful Colors 'Pistache'
Bright red (no label)
Models Own 'Pastel Pink'
Models Own 'Absinthe'
Models Own white nail art pen
Models Own black nail art pen
OPI 'Magazine Cover Mouse'
No. 7 'Totally Teal'
MoYou Special Nail Polish 'Silver'*
MoYou Stamping Plate No. 88*
Fine nail art paintbrush
Nail art gems
I used 'Snow Me White' and a classic red polish for my bases. Once dry, I started stamping! I applied MoYou 'Silver'* to the pretty, swirly design on plate 88*, both of which are from MoYou Nails. I scraped away the excess, and then pressed my stamper (I bought this set from Amazon a while ago - it seems to do the job well enough, though seems a bit flimsy) onto my red nails, and rolled it around a bit to make sure the design transferred. The coverage was pretty good, apart from the bases of my nails which refused to pick up any of the pattern. This was easily solved, however, with red nail art gems!
Next, I began adding the wreaths to my other nails. I painted semicircles using 'Pistache' and a fine paint brush, and when dry, I added more details using 'Totally Teal' and 'Absinthe'. For the bows, I painted a base in 'Pastel Pink' and then built up the colour using various shades of red, including a beloved OPI Liquid Sand Polish.
Since I'd added red gems to my stamped nails, I decided to apply some to my wreaths. I used a combination of yellow and red, and when they were in place, I finished the whole design using my Models Own nail art pens, adding a few highlights and neatening up the edges. As always, everything was topped off with a good top coat! What do you think?
