Christmas Haul: A Few Naily Treats!

Hi guys and gals :) I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, ate plenty, drank plenty, and got lots of presents of course! I've had a really busy few weeks what with Christmas, visiting friends and family and then organising our impending relocation for my new job, so I haven't had a minute to spare for nail art. I'm going to have to play catch-up this week; my nails are feeling extremely neglected and my polish collection is screaming to be used! Speaking of which, here are the additions I received for Christmas... I was well and truly spoilt this year, and along with the nail treats from my friends and family, I got a lovely Secret Santa gift from one of the nail girls on Twitter (I'm still trying to track her down - I really am a useless detective). This post is going to be pretty picture heavy, so prepare yourselves!

My boyfriend treated me to the Fearne 'Perfectly Polished' collection. I really loved last year's collection so I was very excited to receive this instalment! The shades on the top row are 'Minty Maggie', 'Gold Lining' and 'Attention Seeker', and the bottom ones are 'Rudi Red', 'Vintage Cream' and 'Lola Lavender'. I really like the little box they come in, as I'm a sucker for pretty packaging! I haven't tried any of the polishes yet, but if they're anything like 2012's collection, I know I'll be impressed.

I had asked for Rimmel's 'Space Dust' polishes, but unfortunately every single Boots in Manchester had sold out. I still got 'Shooting Stars' though, which is a gorgeous silver polish jam-packed with glitz and glam. Along with that, I got 'Disco Ball' and 'Diamond Dust', which are both super duper sparkly!

I also received a set of Carolyn. K nail paints, which I've never tried before (I've not even heard of the brand?!), but they say they're 100% British which is always good, as well as being 'glossy, chip resistant, [and] quick dry', and infused with vitamins to make nails healthier. The colours have really strange names - 'Lilit', 'Huby' and 'Babette' - all of which totally confuse me. They're very rich, deep shades from looking at the bottles, so I'm hoping they're just as good on my nails!

My boyfriend then decided to be HILARIOUS and got me a Carolyn. K 'Polish Pod', since apparently I'm clumsy and spill nail polish all over the place... Me? Never! It's a spill-proof nail polish holder, and the bottle just sits comfortably inside, and can be rocked around to different positions without toppling over. I reckon this item was more of a present to my boyfriend and his coffee table than me, but it's still pretty snazzy!

I reckon my brother and sister paid all of Barry M's employees' wages this year, as they presented me with a rather large bag of polishes. It included 'Strawberry Ice-Cream','Chameleon Lilac', 'Passion Fruit' and 'Sour Apple', along with two glitters, 'Silver' and 'Rose Quartz', and a gold crackle polish. They also got me a dark blue magnetic polish, and a pink nail art pen. Well done siblings!

My Secret Santa spoiled me rotten with lots of lovely things, including some TarasTalons cuticle oil and hand mask, some 'Ginger Sparkle' hand cream, a wheel of different coloured and shaped gems, and some multi-coloured 'Sea Shell Nail Powder'. I also got Models Own 'Sardonyx' and Sally Hansen 'Kiwi Bikini', which are very festive colours :) Oooh and some chocolates, but they're long gone I'm afraid.

Finally, I got The Color Institute's 'Urban Nail Set', which includes lots of polishes and tools, along with some more hand and nail cream, a dotting set, and some nail scissors. Phewwww... I didn't realise I got all of this stuff! I think it's time to get some more nail storage...

Did you guys get any naily treats for Christmas? Let me know! You can tweet me @amykilv, drop by my Facebook page, or track me down on Instagram (@littletipoff), I'd love to hear from you!

Birthday Haul: Lots of Naily Treats!

Hi everyone! Today I've decided to show you some of the nail-related gifts I received for my birthday last week. I turned 24 on November 3rd, and since then I've been so busy with various events and meetings, I haven't had a moment to spare for my poor little blog. Although I haven't had enough time to create a new nail art design, I thought that you may enjoy having a little nosy at some of my newest naily treats. I did extremely well in terms of presents this year - I'm pretty certain I've never received so much, and I felt spoiled rotten. It just goes to show that no matter how old you are, you can still feel like a child again when it's your birthday!

So first up is OPI's Mariah Carey collection, which consists of four Liquid Sand mini nail lacquers. From left to right, the polishes are: 'Get Your Number', 'Can't Let Go', 'The Impossible' and 'Stay The Night'. Since purchasing my first OPI polishes, the Couture De Minnie collection, I've become a massive fan, and I was extremely happy to receive a few more. The Liquid Sand polishes dry to a textured matte finish, and are totally packed with sparkle.

Next up are some more OPI minis, which come together as the San Francisco collection. From left to right, they are: 'First Date At The Golden Gate', 'Muir Muir On The Wall', 'In The Cable Car-Pool Lane' and 'Peace & Love & OPI'. I immediately fell in love with the latter. It's one of the only birthday nail polishes that I've managed to use so far, and it's still sitting on my nails in its shimmery, petroleum-coloured loveliness (albeit a little chipped).

I also received quite an impressive No. 7 haul, which includes these three glitters. I wish I could say that No. 7 took the time to give them nice titles, but unlike OPI's ultra-creative nail polish namers (the most perfect job in the world, if you ask me), they simply stuck to 'Gold Glitter Top Coat' and 'Silver Glitter Top Coat'. However, they pushed the boat out a bit with the pink, naming it 'Daisy Darling'.

Here's the rest of my No. 7 haul. From left the right, we have: 'Vivid Violet', 'Temptress', 'Beanie', 'Damson Dream', 'Salsa' and 'Totally Teal'. The majority of these are new to me, but a couple are good replacements for polishes that are quickly running out (mainly 'Totally Teal', which I use for pretty much any manicure involving green shades!) I really love 'Beanie', and used it in this mani along with 'Gold Glitter Top Coat'.

I was also lucky enough to receive my first ever Butter London polish. It's called 'Molly Coddled', and though I already own a number of purple shades, I've never come across one quite like this. I swatched it almost immediately, as I was desperate to test out a polish that everyone seems to rave about. As expected, it applied really smoothly, dried quickly, and didn't require anymore than a coat or two. I also got a Barry M nail art pen, which I muse about here as well! Remaining loyal to my all-time favourite Models Own, I also got 'Absinthe' from the Velvet Goth collection. I already own 'Obsidian', and I really love it, so I was pleased to receive the deep green sparkly shade.

Finally, I was treated to a Jessica Quick Dry Oil. Again, I'm yet to try it out, but I've been assured that it's absolutely amazing. It looks and feels so luxurious too: the box packaging screams high-quality in its simplicity, and the translucent glass bottle, along with a glass pipette for application, is extremely snazzy!

So there you have it, my birthday nail haul! Do you have any of these products already? Let me know what you think!

Weekend Haul

*All products in this post were purchased by me.

Hello everyone! I picked up a few things this weekend at some really awesome prices so I thought I'd do a haul post. :)

First up: L.A. Colors neons. I adore these!! I stopped in at the local Dollar Store to pick up some rolls for Sunday dinner and couldn't resist taking a browse through the nail polish. I found Mint, Hottie, Pink Bubbles, In A Flash, and Tangerine. I was in a hurry or I would have dug out the neon purple I'm sure I saw at the bottom of the bin too. See Pink Bubbles on my toes in the picture collage below. Having a neon polish on my toes is a must for spring and summer!

Saturday, I picked up these pretties from the Rite Aid sale bin ... well, all but the NYC polish; it, and a few other products, were marked at 75% off!! The sale bin seems to be drying up sadly, but I hold out hope that more polishes will be moved there soon. From left to right: Battery Park Purple, Tahitian Green, Strength of Pink, Figi, and Corduroy.

Also on for 75% off was this gorgeous NYC Lip Plumper in Plum Tart. I got this for $0.99!!! I didn't get it for the plumper ... okay, I didn't get it only for the plumper. The color is just so pretty! It's actually much lighter in person. I think of a nude gloss with a drop of plum color mixed in to give your lips a very natural shimmery flush of color. I didn't notice any real plump to my lips but it did have a slightly minty scent and did cause some tingling to my lips. Almost like getting toothpaste on your lips while brushing your teeth; I found it causes nearly the same amount of tingling for me. I found it almost refreshing to be honest.

Also on Saturday I found some really awesome sale items in Boscov's. This white sweater was an amazing find. It is so very, very comfy and is light enough to last in my wardrobe through Spring. And was a steal at $5.99! I also picked up a lovely gray blazer (no pics yet). I love blazers!! They are an essential part of my wardrobe! To find one for $9.99 was brilliant, but to get up to the checkout and have the sale's women scan it up as $5.99 was stunningly brilliant!

The one thing I didn't get on sale was the shoes. I saw them two weeks ago and fell in love — which is odd because I can't stand flats. I've been told many times that I must have been born with my heels because the only time I'm without them is when I'm not wearing any shoes at all. When I saw them this weekend I couldn't let them go again. Especially after trying them on and seeing how comfortable they are. I honestly expected to try them on and have them fit like all the other flats. They would surely feel weird and hurt the backs of my feet, but these lovelies didn't hurt at all and they fit perfectly! They are so me. An oddly fitting combo of nude and neon color with an awesome spiked toe. They were about $17 — which is a steal in and of itself for a pair of shoes today!

And my new shoes match my new neon pink nail polish! I hate feet, abhor them really, but I wanted to show off my neon toes too much. I kept the picture small and hope it doesn't make anyone cringe too badly. And yes, that is snow between the gaps of my porch. Yes, yes I did stand outside in my bare feet to get this picture. Dedication to my blog at its best ... or worst?

Rite Aid Haul

I was very lucky to visit Rite Aid yesterday as I was told they were switching out their stock, trading old polishes for new ones. The old stock took a huge drop in price and were placed in a clearance bin! I seriously cannot resist a sale, and I grabbed nearly every polish I could get my hands on.

Here is my complete haul. On top of the sale polishes I grabbed four others.

First up are the polishes I paid full price for. In the center is Sally Hansen Breezy Blue and Pink Blink. On the ends are Revlon Girly and Enchanting.

Girly and Enchanting are new shades from Revlon. I vow to buy more of these new shades because they are so, so pretty. I chose Girly first because I'm a sucker for glitter, especially glitter suspended in a pinky purple-ish base. Being a fairly sheer base though I knew this glitter would need some undies. That's why I picked up Enchanting and Pink Blink. I think Girly will look gorgeous over both!!

Seriously, look at that glitter!! How can you possibly resist??

The first things I found in the clearance bin were $0.74 Color Fever petites in their rounded bottles. I had color fever and picked out all of these! Peach Blush, Periwinkle, Creme Blue, and Vintage Gray.

I also picked out the three square bottles of Color Fever. These ones in Potion, Seashell, and Raspberry Ice. I'm loving Raspberry Ice in the bottle, but am unsure just how great it will look on my nails.

I found two CQ next. I removed the original $3.99 price tags since they covered the front of the bottle. Silver Taupe looks a good deal lighter in person and seems to be an actual shade of taupe when not placed next to such a light color as Pearls.

Last but not least are these three Scherer Chameleon polishes in Tiny Dancer, Fandango, and Mist. They are all so very, very pretty!!

What do you think of my haul? I think I'm going to need a bin for all my untried polishes soon. The list just keeps getting longer.
