Fickle Fairy Potions Swatches

Hello Everyone!
I have a super exciting post for you today.

Tonya of Fickle Fairy Potions has sent me some of her polishes to try!

Aren't they gorgeous!?

First I have Pixie Tears,
a beautiful holo sprinkled with black, blue, green and white glitters.

Here's a picture in my light box. The holo didn't show up inside but definitely did in the sunlight. Unfortunately my camera wasn't completely able to capture how holographic this polish actually is.

The formula was great on this polish. Like all the polishes I tried, it dried very fast. In addition, it wasn't too thin, I only used two coats for this swatch (without topcoat)

Below is a close up shot so you can see the glitter within the polish even better.

Next up I have Popped Tarts,
an off white polish loaded with glitters in all different shapes, colors and sizes!

I'm not a huge glitter fan but I absolutely love this polish! The glitter just goes together perfectly.

I couldn't resist painting an accent nail with a Pop Tart on it for this swatch as well.

Here's a close up so you can see the glitters

So pretty! Likewise, this polish dried incredibly fast. I didn't have to "fish" for any of the glitters, there's a ton in the polish! I did use three thin coats of this polish (plus topcoat) but I definitely think you could get away with two.

Next up I have Kiss My Astroturf,
an Emerald green jelly with gold, teal and green glitter.

This polish was a bit on the sheer side but it's a jelly, so that's expected. I used three coats for this swatch with topcoat. If you wanted you could also layer this over a green polish for maximum opacity.

Look at that glitter! So beautiful!

Call Me Maybe is a hot pink jelly.

In my opinion, this polish had the best formula. It went on very smoothly.

I used three very thin coats for this swatch plus topcoat.

Also couldn't resist painting a phone accent nail for this swatch.

Last but not least is

Foxy Lady

A purple jelly that was my favorite of the bunch.

This swatch was done using three thin coats with top coat.  The polish itself dried super quick and was very shiny on it's own.

My accent nail features the F from the Fickle Fairy Potions logo. So cute right?

Overall I was SOO impressed with these polishes. These are my first indies ever (believe it or not) and it's just incredible that a person, not a huge name brand company is making such amazing polishes. All the polishes dried very quickly and were easy to work with.

If you'd like to order any of these polishes, check out the site here. They're only $6 and right now you can use the coupon code "TRUELOVE" for 10% off! She has many other colors as well!
Thanks for reading!

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint: 'Papaya' & 'Greenberry' Review

Good morning! Today I bring you a review of Barry M's Gelly polish, which I have only just got around to purchasing. A lot of the girls on Twitter have been talking about it for a while, so I decided to find out what all the fuss is about, and popped into Boots to treat myself to 'Papaya' and 'Greenberry'. The polishes are a bargain £3.99 each, and I took advantage of Boots' 'Buy 1 Get 1 Half Price' offer, so it was even better for the old purse strings. Initially I was worried the formula would be gloopy and take ages to dry, but I was pleasantly surprised!

'Papaya' is a wonderful addition to my collection of peach and orange polishes. I thought it may be a bit too similar to Models Own 'Fuzzy Peach', but it's actually much richer in colour, and is very much like the juicy, fleshy part of its namesake!
'Greenberry' is a gorgeous bright shade. I'm normally more drawn to paler, more delicate colours, which is why my mint green/pale teal collection is so vast (Models Own 'Apple Pie', L'Oreal 'Perle de Jade' and e.l.f. 'Mint Cream', to name a few!) It's nice to now have a more striking shade of turquoise :)
Both polishes applied really well, and the consistency is just right. I used 3 coats for each nail, but you can easily get away with 2, I'm just a bit O.C.D. when it comes to coverage. Barry M's Gelly polishes also dry extremely quickly, which is handy. I popped 'Papaya' on early last week to find out how well it lasts and removes, and it didn't disappoint on either front. My nails were chip-free for a good few days, and I got lots of compliments on the smooth finish and eye-catching colour. When I removed the manicure, it was really quick and easy, even with acetone-free polish remover. Plus there was hardly any staining, which is always good!
I decided to add my favourite Models Own glitter to my swatches, along with a couple of accents. The Barry M brushes are good for small details as they are slim, and rarely have any stray bristles (a pet hate of mine). I didn't have to use a small paint brush for the tips of my ring and index fingers, and simply applied a coat of 'Papaya' in a triangular shape. I added a coat of Models Own Hed Kandi 'Ibiza Mix' to my orange nails, and then carefully applied individual sequins to outline the triangle detail, as well as a little dab in the middle. 'Ibiza Mix' is the perfect addition to this manicure as it contains glitters in almost-matching shades to 'Papaya' and 'Greenberry', so the colours are really picked out.

Have you tried any of Barry M's Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints? If so, what's your favourite colour? The next time I go shopping I am definitely picking up a few more shades!

JACAVA London: Swatches and Review

Hi everyone, I hope you're all well! Today I have a review of a lovely new brand called Jacava, a UK-based company that specialises in luxury nail polish. Jacava's nail polish 8-free. You may or may not have heard about 3-free polishes (brands such as OPI and Essie don't contain Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene or Formaldehyde, which are considered toxic) and 5-free polishes (the likes of Chanel and Dior are also free of Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor, which research has also proved risky). Well, Jacava take this even further by ensuring that all of their polishes are free from eight key nail varnish downfalls: there's no Formaldehyde, Camphor, Toluene, DBP, Collophane, Phthalates or Animal Testing. What's more, their bottles boast a gorgeous 22 carat gold print, so if the science and ethics don't impress you, surely the packaging does?!
Anyway, I originally chose to review 'Chillax'*, which is a beautiful, metallic turquoise. It looks more green on both the colour menu on the site, but even though the true colour is more teal, it's still lovely. When my parcel arrived, to my surprise the generous people of Jacava London had sent me two other shades to review: 'Midnight's Secrets'*, a shimmery royal blue, and 'Mont Blanc'*, a smooth pure white.
Although their selection isn't huge, there is certainly a shade to suit everyone. From the menu, I can say that 'Knightsbridge Opulence' and 'Marrakesh Nights' have also caught my eye... How perfect are these names? Honestly, being a nail polish namer must be the best job in the world...
Jacava's packaging is really impressive. The bottles are a good size and feel sturdy, so there's little risk of smashes or cracks. The lids are long and smooth, and easy to grip, and the brushes also appear to be long enough to touch the bottom of the bottle. I've found this to be one of my pet hates of nail polish - why do some companies make the brushes so short? Some people actually want to finish bottles of nail polish, y'know!
All of the polishes applied beautifully. The brushes are a good width to reach the corners of your nails, and there were no stray bristles on the first opening (another pet hate). The consistency was great, and both 'Chillax' and 'Midnight's Secrets' only took 2 coats for opacity. 'Mont Blanc' required 3 coats, but as I always say, that's just to be expected of pale polishes.
My favourite is definitely 'Chillax', because I love the subtly of the shimmer and the rich turquoise shade. However, I'm also really glad that I received 'Mont Blanc', because I've been in need of a quality white for a while. 'Midnight's Secrets' is also really pretty, and despite my vast collection of blue polishes, it's quite different to every other.
What do you think? What's your favourite shade? Have you ever tried Jacava, or other luxury nail varnish brands?

*Jacava London nail polishes RRP at £14.50 each and can be found via their website. These products were sent to me for review, however this has not influenced my opinion in any way. As always, I have been 100% honest about my experiences with the product.
