Hey everyone! Because this week's Tutorial Tuesday was done by the lovely Amelia (see
here), I decided I'd post my usual tutorial today instead! I'm so excited to show you this design, after seeing
this image by Madeline Poole on Instagram I just knew I had to recreate it. The design itself is pretty simple but I think the simplicity is what makes it stand out so much. I definitely got a lot of comments on my nails whilst I was wearing these, and as they're so easy to do I think I'll be recreating them with quite a few colours!
I didn't actually intend to do this design in pink, I had meant to do it with a nude base, but for some reason I picked up the pink and painted my nails with it without even thinking, and I didn't want to remove it after that so I just decided to go with it. I'm so glad I did because I think it works really well with the pastel colour. I guess my hand knew what I wanted more than my head! Tutorial will be after the jump.
Step 1: Paint your nails with your chosen base colour
Step 2: Apply two strips of striping tape to the centre of your nail
Step 3: Paint in between the strips with the brush from the white polish
Step 4: Using a small brush and black nail polish or acrylic paint, paint on the black stripes leaving equal gaps for the white. You can either do this step with or without the striping tape
Step 5: Remove the striping tape. If you left the tape on when applying the black, do this very quickly or the black will be stringy and will ruin the design.
Step 6: Once your design is dry, finish off with topcoat to seal in your design.

Hey everyone! Finally I have some nail art for you, which isn't just part of a tutorial (although hopefully you actually like the tutorials so it's not an issue!). I've had a mixture of ideas going round my head for a while and with the help of a friend I finally put 2 designs together which I think work pretty well. I was inspired by a design I saw posted on Instagram ages ago with no logo and no credit (and I've just tried for 20 minutes to find on google but I can't find any sign of it, let me know if you know the original), and I decided to repeat
these nails, which were originally based from
this tutorial by Pack a Punch Nails.
The base for these nails is
Barry M - Lychee, and the black and white is acrylic paint, I used striping tape from
here to create the squares, I used
these brushes for the triangles, and I finished it off with a coat of
Seche Vite.

Happy Halloween everyone! I'm so excited to show you my final Halloween design: Slenderman nails! I know all my other designs have been quite cute this year but I wanted to try something a little different. For those of you who don't know what Slenderman is, he's the character of the game Slender, which is basically just an
incredibly creepy game. I'm too much of a wuss to have played it personally, having got scared enough just watching someone else play! If you want to read more about it, the wiki page for the game is
here. Hopefully though, most of you know what the game is, and therefore can understand the meaning behind each of these nails.
On my thumb I have the Slender writing (albeit a bit thicker than the actual text), on my ring and pointer finger I have the trees and moon which represent the creepy setting of the game, on my middle finger I have slenderman himself, and then on my pinky I have one of the eight pages you have to find throughout the game.

Hey everyone! I'm back for another day of digital dozen book week, and today I'm doing Alice in Wonderland. I couldn't go a whole week without at least ONE reference to my name after all. I chose a mix of other peoples ideas and making things up as inspiration for these nails, as you shall see, rather than using a book cover as with all the other designs.
On the thumb I did a the cheshire cat using OPI - Chic from Ears to Tail, and then I used striping tape and an unnamed purple polish from a set for the stripes, the mouth was done using acrylic paint. The checkers board remains from
yesterday on a base of
Jacava - Mont Blanc* which is a gorgeous white which only takes 2 coats for opacity, I used this on my ring finger too. My middle finger is Essie - Borrowed and Blue and acrylic paint. The outline on the ring finger is Essie - Beyond Cozy and the numerals are acrylic paint. My little finger is China Glaze - Kinetic Candy with
MASH - Black Nail Varnish* over it using striping tape. The tag is done using acrylic paint. And they're all topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.
The ring finger is inspired by
this design, the thumb is inspired by
this design (I know the link isnt to the artist but I cant seem to find who did it, if you know please let me know and I'll credit correctly) and the middle finger is inspired by
this design

Hey everyone! We're now on day 3 of Digital Dozen book week and today I've based my nails on 2 books rather than one, both from the same 'Noughts and Crosses' series by Malorie Blackman. The two books I used were 'Noughts and Crosses' and 'Checkmate'. I wanted something simple to do today and these were perfect.

As you can see I added a bit more detail to these than was on the covers originally, but I thought they'd be a bit boring if not.
To do these I used a base of

Hey everyone! Today I'm back with another seven deadly sins challenge post and this week it's 'Sloth'. The prompt for this was 'dont try too hard but explain how to do something really easy [tutorial]' so here you go! I decided to create an easy gradient youtube tutorial, with 'Chalk Dust' by Maybelline over the top. I'm pretty sure this is the only thing I'm going to be rocking on my nails during exam time as they're super easy to create. But dont worry I have a load of posts lined up for you so this isn't all you'll see.
The base colours for this nail were Clinique 'Juiced up', 'Splish Splash', '70° and Sunny' and 'Pinkini' which i shall be reviewing soon, and also 'Hula Skirt', which I reviewed here, and then I sponged 'Raindrop' by NYC, Barry M 'Passion Fruit', Barry M 'Prickly Pear', and Barry M 'Cobalt Blue', all topped off with a coat of 'Chalk Dust' by Maybelline (a much cheaper, and bigger, alternative to the new Loreal black and white glitter for all your Brits)

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the new Confetti Nail Polish* from Barry M to show you. I intended to post these weeks ago but never got around to editing the photos, so even though I'm sure you might have seen these around I hope you enjoy them anyway! I decided to try something a little different to the other reviews I've seen and show you what they look like alone or layered over another colour, rather than just layered.
These are available now on the Barry M
website and will be available in Superdrug on the 5th June and Boots on the 12th priced at £3.99. These have been compared to the feathers effect collection by Nails inc but these are definitely the more affordable option if you're looking to buy some. I dont own any to compare but I'm assuming these are just as good. As always the pictures and review will be after the jump!

First up is 'Sour Apple'* which is the blue and yellow/light green confetti. I struggled to find a colour to put this over because I felt like I'd already exercised all my options with the other glitters, so I chose to put it over Barry M 'Mushroom'. There are 3 coats on the ring and pointer fingers, with a slight amount of placement needed, and 1 coat on my other fingers, again with a little bit of placement.
Next up is 'Bubblegum'* which is a blue and white glitter. I put this over Barry M '
Passion Fruit' from the new
Summer 2013 Gelly Collection. Again it was 3 coats on the ring and pointer finger and one coat elsewhere, and placement was also needed with these.
Next is 'Dolly Mixture'* which is a multi-coloured glitter, I chose to layer this over Barry M 'Cobalt Blue'. Again, it's 3 coats on my ring and pointer finger and one elsewhere, and some placement was needed
Next is 'Liquorice'* which is a black and white glitter, I know a lot of you love black and white glitters so this is definitely a good one for you! Again, 3 coats on the ring and pointer finger and 1 elsewhere, but I did a bit of extra placement with these which is why the layering looks a bit thicker.
Last but certainly not least is 'Marshmallow'* which, suprisingly, is my favourite out of the bunch. I expected to like Liquorice the most but for some reason that was replaced as soon as I applied this. Again, 3 coats on the ring and pointer finger and 1 coat elsewhere.
Overall, I'm really impressed with this collection. I love the names and I love how they look. As I've mentioned before I dont use the foil removal method for glitter and so I ended up using
Essence - Peel Off Basecoat* underneath to make things easier, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help in the removal department. I would recommend getting at least a couple of these if you can because I think they're great!

Hey everyone! Today I have a post for you that some of you may have seen a sneak peak of on instagram: gel pen doodles. I've done this design repeatedly in lectures for a while, and since I discovered that I could use gel pens I've been wanting to do it on my nails.
There's very little to say about these nails because for me they truly are just doodles! I started off with a base of OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and used a Muji 0.38 Gel Pen for the design topped off with a coat of Seche Vite when it completely dried

Hi everyone! Firstly I just want to start with an apology, firstly for not posting for a few days and secondly for not posting these yesterday like usual. Everything has been a bit hectic for the past few days and I've had bare nails for ages, so I hope you'll forgive me! I try to post as much as possible but sometimes it's difficult to balance everything.
So back on to today's post, due to my lack of time at the moment I chose a really simple design from my 'archives' to redo: Yin Yang nails! So it's probably one of the least original designs you'll see the whole time in this series from me, but it's the best I could do in an hour. There's not really much explaining to be done so as usual the 'then' post will be after the jump with colours used :)
The base for these nails is Essie - Blanc, and the black is China Glaze - Liquid Leather, they were the only colours used except for a couple of touchups with acrylic paint, and I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.
I'm sorry there's only the one picture today, I barely had time to edit one and post this but I can assure you that I have some great posts coming up next week for you (one of which you may have seen a sneak peak of on my instagram)

They're back! The then and now posts have returned! Have you missed them? I know from reading the giveaway comments that a few of you have. These nails were done about 2 weeks ago, maybe even longer, but the past couple of saturdays I've just been too busy to post them, but they should return to being weekly now. This is a design that I remember doing, and remember removing straight away to try another design (which I'm sure will make an appearance at some point), something I'd never done before and something I never did again until I starting painting more regularly (aka now) because I didn't much like 'wasting' nail varnish. As you'll see, the design was also pretty rubbish so it was no big loss to the world that they didn't last very long!
I'm sure many of you will know that this design isn't original, but as with all of these posts, I can't remember where I got the original inspiration from, so for now I cannot give credit, but if you know who originally created these then please let me know. The original picture is after the jump!
As you can tell, I was a true natural at nail art, and I really knew how to make my photos look great! (I hope you can hear my sarcasm right here).
In the original post, and now, I used Barry M - Matt white as the base, the only white I'd ever used until I chanced upon a bottle of Essie - Blanc in TKmaxx a few weeks ago. The black was probably previously Barry M - Black, but I can't tell you any more than that, except that it was all done with dotting tools, as were all my previous designs. This time the black was China Glaze - Liquid Leather for the spots (is that what they're called?) and the cow was done with acrylic paint, all topped off with a coat (or possibly two I cant remember) of Seche Vite.
As you can see, I completely changed the cow, mainly because it previously looked nothing like a cow!
