Seven Deadly Sins: Week 7 - Pride

Hey everyone! This is the last post in my Seven Deadly Sins challenge, and I'm quite sad to see it go. I'm hoping to bring it back next year if the other challengers will join me. This weeks sin is pride, and the prompt is to 'brag about how good you are at...'. I'm not big on bragging, but I feel that I am quite good at gel pen paisley designs so I thought I'd do another one, hope you dont mind!

For this I used Barry M - Bright Pink and Barry M - Red, I'm going to do a quick tutorial on this design for Licila so you should see that soon! As always I also used a Muji 0.38mm gel pen, topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Paisley print tutorial

Hey everyone, today I'm going to show you a tutorial for my paisley print nails! All you'll need is a base colour (or more than one if you wish), a gel pen and a top coat. Everything else will be after the jump to avoid photo spamming you guys

Many of you have asked me which pen I use for my gel pen designs, I use this one, and here's a picture of the nib if you would like to try find a similar one:

To start of with, paint your nails your chosen colour (or colours if you're indecisive like me). The colours I used for this were:
Essie - Bikini So Teeny
OPI - Gargantuan Green Grape
Barry M - Strawberry
Barry M - Turquoise
Rimmel - Lemon Drop

Next, draw teardrop shapes using the gel pen on all of your nails, spacing them out as best you can (I probably could have done with spacing them out a bit better!)

Once that's done, outline the tear drops with a lacey pattern. Remember not to push down too hard, just lightly 'brush' the pen over the nail and try to avoid splodging it.

Then, draw mini tear drops inside the bigger ones

You can leave it like that if you want, but I like to add dots inside the tear drops and also in any available gaps.

Once that is dry, try to wait as long as possible, add a top coat to seal in your design (otherwise it will wash off!), I used Seche Vite, and you're done!

I hope you like this design, it's definitely one you can try if you're starting off with nail art, I know it may look complicated but I promise it isnt, and it's something that you dont need fancy tools for, and a pen isn't as hard as a brush to control.

I've decided to enter this tutorial into Money Supermarket's 'Money Smart Nail Art' competition, because it seems to fit quite well into the theme of using 'household items'.

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Gel pen doodles

Hey everyone! Today I have a post for you that some of you may have seen a sneak peak of on instagram: gel pen doodles. I've done this design repeatedly in lectures for a while, and since I discovered that I could use gel pens I've been wanting to do it on my nails.

There's very little to say about these nails because for me they truly are just doodles! I started off with a base of OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and used a Muji 0.38 Gel Pen for the design topped off with a coat of Seche Vite when it completely dried

Hope you like it! Let me know what you think :)

Rainbow gradients + paisley nails

Hey everyone! It's been a while hasn't it? (Well, a week but still!) I intended to post a then and now piece on Saturday but I didn't find any time to edit the pictures before I went home for the weekend and I didn't take my laptop in case I fell over in the snow, so here is my first chance to post. But rather than doing my then and now post I'm going to show you some different nails that you will have seen slightly already if you're following me on instagram, and I shall post my then and now nails this Saturday instead. I have quite a busy week planned in blogging, the only day there will be no post this week will probably be tuesday (aka tomorrow). I have some wonderful new Barry M nail varnishes to show you, and lots of lovely nail art ideas planned around them, and I also have other exciting products and designs to show you, so I hope you'll stick around to see!

Anyway, on to today's nails. Last time I did paisley nails I had a couple of comments that I should try them in different colours, because as you might recall I just did them as a test of gel pens on top of some glow in the dark polishes, so the colours weren't that exciting. But I couldn't really decide what colour to choose and I've been meaning to do rainbow gradients for ages, so I thought why not, and I mixed the two together. The outcome reminds me of some hippy fabric in the 60's but I quite like it! I've also included a picture of the rainbow gradient alone at the end of the post just in case you dont like the paisley!

I used Essie - Blanc as a base and then sponged on Barry M - Lemon, Collection 2000 -Fruit Loop, Barry M - Blueberry, and China Glaze - Refresh Mint. And once that was completely dry I drew on the paisley print with a 0.38 Muji Gel Pen (seeing as though so many of you asked me what I used last time). Unfortunately I wasn't patient at all with top coat and I did smudge the pen a bit, but that's not the case usually, I was just a bit hasty. Although I dont think it looks too bad really. I decided to also add an accent nail using Born Pretty Store studs like the ones in this post.

And a bonus picture of the rainbow gradient alone:

I think my gradienting skills could probably do with a bit of improvement still but I still like how these turned out! What do you think?
