Nail Art Style

In an effort to squeeze in as much Halloween nail art as I can, I have more for you today!

This is another exciting post (in my opinion)

Today I have another design inspired by Tim Burton but Corpse Bride this time.

Love this movie as well. Tim Burton is perfect, that's it.

Base is polish, rest was done with acrylic paint and topped with Seche Vite (not the bottle pictured) 

I believe in all this design took about 3ish hours.

Thumb shot. I'm still working on my lettering. I'm just glad to have fit it all on my nail. Success in that category! 

Okay here's where it gets exciting! This is another #BestieTwinNails design. I did these in collaboration with Beth of Beth's Nails. Here's her design below.

She's incredibly talented and has improved immensely since I've been following her. Not to mention that she's one of the nicest people I've met through nail art. She's always so supportive of me. 

She's actually recreated two of my designs in the past (and nailed them too!)

Olen taas elänyt ihan omassa kuplassani. Jotenkin vain ajattelin että Halloweenia vietetään  vasta pyhäinpäivänä, mutta kai se oikea Halloween sitten meni jo (ainakin  viikonlopun Halloween Facebook-päivityksistä päätellen). :D ...Argh, en edes vielä ole tehnyt Halloweenkynsiä! :'(  

Tässä nyt kuitenkin viimeisin Adeninalta lahjakortilla tilaamani koristelusetti*. Adeninalla on kätevästi kerätty omalle sivulleen kaikenlaista Halloween-kynsien tekoon liittyvää. Mutta sitten siihen omaan tilaukseeni. Ostoskoriin lähti tällä kertaa kolme arkkia siirtokuvia ja yksi on tosiaankin tuollainen söpö Halloween-aiheinen. Tilasin myös neonoransseja pyöreitä ja pinkkejä neliönmallisia niittejä. Otin myös setin vähän isomman kokoisia pimeässä hohtavia valkoisia strasseja ja purkillisen valkoisia pyöreitä "glittereitä" (molemmat vain 1€).   Mielestäni nämä olivat jotenkin kivan erilaisia, kun yleensä tälläiset glitterit/ muovilastut ovat juurikin niitä kiiltäviä ja lisäksi vielä vähän läpinäkyviä, mutta nämä ovat ihan vain valkoista muovia. 

Jaah, tekisköhän sitä kuitenkin ensi viikonlopuksi Halloween-kynnet? :D

Hello all! Today's post is exciting! (In my opinion)

If you have an Instagram, there is a tag on there called #bestietwinnails and basically you and another person (or people) do the same nail design. So today I have Bestie Twin nails with Selena of @101NailFreak on Instagram.

We decided on a Halloween graveyard design. 

First I'll show my interpretation.

The base was done in polish and the rest is acrylic paint topped with matte top coat.

I absolutely love the way she did them. and look how long her nails are! so jealous!

So amazing right!? She's incredibly talented. Funny story actually, we went to the same high school. She graduated last year and I am a senior this year. It was unknown to us at the time and we recently realized over Instagram! She doesn't have a blog at this time but hopefully soon!

Had I known at the time that this was doing to be really difficult to execute on nails, I wouldn't have picked it. But it's good to challenge yourself sometimes right? Painting in shades of grey and black isn't the easiest thing to do. Hopefully my nails don't just look like grey blobs. 

I think that's about all for this post. I had such a great time doing this!

On the right side of my blog you will see a little box with three little icons in it. Those are my GFC followers! -Yes, not many yet, but I'm still thrilled with the three I currently have!-. If your a fellow blogger on Blogger - That was dorky...- New posts will appear in your Blogger dashboard, with a snippet of the post and a thumbnail image.

If you would like to follow my blog with Google Friend Connect just click "Join This Site" on the right side of my blog page. Or, if you have a blog, go to your Blogger dashboard and click "Add Blog" and paste in my blogs URL. If you follow publicly, your icon will appear in my GFC box, and other followers can click on it and get a link to your blog and profile.

If you would rather not have to visit any site to read my blog, or any other blog, why not follow through Email! On the bottom of my blog, and many others, is a little Follow by Email box. Doing this will have any new posts sent directly to your email, easy peasy! It will only send you an email when there are new posts, so you won't be bombarded with junk mail. Emails usually get sent the day after a new post is published.

I love Twitter! I'm on it daily, and it's a great place to get in touch with me quickly. I also, like many bloggers, use it to announce new blog posts. This is another easy way to keep track of your favorite blogs, without having to join extra sites to do so. All you have to do is follow the bloggers twitter account, and get notified of new posts right in your feed! Twitter is also great to meet other bloggers, and talk to each other. I've found quite a few amazing blogs thanks to Twitter.

My instagram is a mix of personal and blog related items. - My pictures are usually makeup or cat related. Or both?...No, just kidding.- I post blog updates on my Instagram, as well as pictures from my blog posts, and pictures of items I plan on writing about. I also love to do photo challenges! I'm currently doing my very first one for the whole month of October, so most of my Instagram is dedicated to that.

I've noticed other bloggers will share their post updates on Instagram as well, so this is another easy way to stay updated.

I am a Pinterest addict... I admit it. I love Pinterest, and have over 1,000 pins and growing. I usually pin nail inspirations, fashion, food I'll never get motivated enough to cook myself, and, of course, plenty of cute cat pictures. But I also use it to post blog updates as well! Like many other bloggers do. I have a board just for my post updates, that includes an image- of course.- and a direct link to the full post. If you are also a Pinterest junkie, this is a great, simple way to keep track of new posts to your favorite blogs.

...ja sen hankaluus! Olen tässä viimeiset kuukaudet ollut ihan ahdingossa tämän asian kanssa. Uusi ja parempi kamera pitäisi saada, mutta ei mielellään isoa järestelmäkameraa, koska kuvaan niin usein yksin yhdellä kädellä omia kynsiäni. :p Päädyin siis minijärkkäreiden puoleen ja sain oikein Canonilta testattavaksi (kiitos!) heidän versionsa tästä pokkarin helppouden, mutta kuitenkin järkkärin kuvanlaadun ja toimintojen yhdistelmästä. Minähän olen siis ihan noviisi kameroiden ja kuvaamisen kanssa, joten mitään mahtavaa analyysiä ei tässä postauksessa ole tulossa, mutta niitä löytyy netistä useita paljon asiantuntevampien testaajien kirjoittamana. 

Kuvaamistavoistani johtuen huomasin, että yhdeksi pullonkaulakseni muodostui kameran objektiivin lyhin tarkennusetäisyys. En nimittäin halua kurotella jostain puolesta metristä kamerakädelläni, jotta saisin tarkennettua kynsiini. Varsinkin kun olen niin tottunut viemään pikku Nikonin pokkarini suunnilleen 5 cm päähän kädestäni. :D Tämän tyyppisiäkin kameroita ja linsseja ym. on aivan valtavasti tarjolla markkinoilla ja mitenkäs niistä nyt sitten osaisi löytää omaan käyttöön parhaimmin sopivan. Pennosistani tarkoin huolta pitävänä (öhöm, no ainakin yritän), myös hintalaatusuhteella on väliä, joten olen saanut aika monia tunteja päiviä tuhrattua netissä hintojen, kamera arvostelujen ja verkkokauppojen selailuun, huoh. Niin ja siis oikeasti ihan kamerasanaston ym. opiskeluun, koska olen aikasemmin ollut ihan tietämätön suunnilleen kaikesta (nimim. opin juuri mitä f-luvulla kerrotaan).

Minkälaisilla kameroilla te kuvaatte? Nyt kaikki mahdolliset vinkit ja kokemukset alle kommenttiboksiin kiitos ihanat! 

Kuten jo aikaisemmassa postauksessa mainitsinkin, minulla oli Canonilta parisen viikkoa lainassa Canon EOS M -kamera. Sain myös pari eri objektiivia, adapterin ja ulkoisen salaman samalla testattavakseni. Tykkäsin kyllä kovasti kamerasta ja opin aika nopeasti miten sillä saa otettua sellaisia kuvia, joista itse pidän. Olihan se myös huima harppaus omaan vanhanmalliseen pokkariini verrattuna. I miss you EOS M.

Tässä EOS M pienikokoisen ja valovoimasen "pannukakkuobjektiivin" EF-M 22mm f/2 STM kanssa, erikseen myytävä, pattereilla toimiva, salama kiinnitettynä. Pikku pannaria käytin kameran laina-aikana ehdottamasti eniten, johtuen sen kätevästä pienestä koosta ja hyvästä f-luvusta. Huono puoli tuossa linssissä on kuitenkin kuvanvakaimen puuttuminen ja välillä kuvista tulikin vähän tärähtäneitä, jos ei ollut tarkkana.

EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM laajakulma zoom-objektiivi oli myös todella kätsy ja kiva. Tällä kuvailin jonkun verran ulkona ja se sopii juurikin maisemakuviin ym. tosi hyvin. No kyllä se laajakulma helpotti myös esim. pienessä tilassa kuvaamissa, missä ei ollu mahdollisuuttaa ottaa etäisyyttä kuvattavaan kohteeseen. Niin ja tässä on kuvanvakain. :) ...Harmi kun tätä linssiä ei myydä perussetissä kameran mukana :/

Yllä EOS M mount adapter kiinnitettynä. Jotta pieneen kameraan saisi kiinnitettyä vanhojen sarjojen lissejä tarvitsee siihen ensin kiinnittää ontto adapteri. Sen jälkeen se toimii saumattomasti myös EF ja EF-S sarjalaisten kanssa. Alla EOS M on varustettu EF-S 60mm f2.8 Macro USM makrolinssi "järkäleellä". En oikein ehtiny kunnolla tutustua makro-objektiivin käyttöön ja hienouksiin, mutta joitain testikuvia kyllä otin. Sen huomasin että painoa kamerassa alkoi olla tämän kanssa jo sen verran, että jalusta olisi ollut ihan käytännöllinen.

EOS M oli kyllä huima harppaus minulle kuvaamisen maailmaan ja sen nopea omaksuttavuus sopi hyvin juuri tälläiselle ummikolle. Tykkäsin myös kivoista efekteistä :D Paria juttua jäin kyllä kaipaamaan, esim. mielestäni tällä ei voinut itse asettaa manuaalisesti valkotasapainoa, mikä on kuitenkin aika tärkeää esim. kynsilakkojen sävyjen oikean toistuvuuden kannalta (voi myös olla että en vain osannut/ löytänyt tätä ominaisuutta, löysin vain valmiita valkotasapainotiloja). Luin myös joistain arvosteluista, että EOS M:ssä on suhteellisen hidas automaattitarkennus ja kyllähän sen pariin otteeseen itsekin huomasi. 

Tässä kuvasaldoa testailuistani. Merkitsin kuviin millä objektiivillä ne on otettu. Huomaatte varmaan, että tykkään miniatyyriefektistä, heh. :p Myös edellisten postauksien kuvat (messupostauksesta lähtien) on suurimmaksi osaksi otettu EF-M 22mm f/2 pannukakkulinssillä.

^Avokkikin päätti testata macrolinssillä kuvaamista. :D Älkää siis kysykö...

Kävin tutkailemassa tarjontaa Ruoholahden Verkkokaupassa. Nämä kaksi viimeistä kuvaa eivät siis ole enää Canonilla otettuja, niin kuin varmaan huomaa. Panasonicin Lumix GF6 (vasemmalla ylhäällä) on pärjännyt hyvin arvosteluissa ja testailinkin sitä vähän tuolla. En kyllä tajunnut käyttöliittymästä paljoa, mutta kai kaikkea oppii :D

Hi guys. Yep, you guessed it, I've got another Halloween manicure to share with you today - black cats! I've been desperate to use the Rococo polish that my friend very kindly gave to me a few weeks ago, so this was the perfect opportunity. It's a gorgeous dusky lavender colour, and I knew it would look really effective along with simple black silhouettes.

The Rococo polish is of such high quality, it only took one coat to achieve an amazing finish. It applied really smoothly, the brush is just the right width and shape, and the consistency is perfect - not too runny and not too gloopy either! I'm not sure how much the polishes normally retail for (I imagine they're pretty £££), but I definitely won't hesitate to treat myself in the future.

Once my purple bases were dry, I used a black nail art pen to draw on the silhouettes. I found some pictures on Google images and half copied, half made up my own cat shapes. I decided to have two sitting cats on my index and ring fingernails, and a scaredy-cat (I think that's what they look like?!) on my other three nails. 

A shiny finish really didn't look right, so I added Essie 'Matte About You'. I think it's make a world of difference! What do you think? What are your nails sporting this Halloween?

Hi! Today I've got another Halloween manicure to show you... Pumpkins! This design was really quick to do and I love the contrast of colours. I'm not a big fan of orange (it tends to clash with my ginger hair!), but it is definitely one of the most Halloween-y colours. I tried to make each pumpkin's expression a bit different for some variety, and also added glitter to make the manicure more girlie.

I use 'Mango Madness' for a base, which is one of my favourite colours from my prize for winning the e.l.f. Cosmetics nail art contest a few months ago. I've seen some negative feedback about the quality of e.l.f.'s polishes, but for the price, I think they're a really good budget option. There's a huge variety of colours, and though it takes about three coats for opacity, the finish is always very smooth and shiny. Once my bases were dry, I used Fearne 'Burnt Out' with a fine nail art brush to add sparkly lines.

Next, I used 'Pistache' to paint a small semicircle on the top of each pumpkin. Then I added some more lines using 'Totally Teal'. For the pumpkin faces I used a black nail art pen. I didn't worry too much about neatness, because I always think carved pumpkins look best when they're quite jagged and weird-looking!
